It's officially the summertime, and you have teens. Trust me, I know what it's like from arranging pickups and drops offs with other parents, and learning about birthday parties last minute. Below, I'm sharing a few tips with assisting you with surviving this summer financially.
Tips for Surviving Summer with Teens
Budget
Create a list of the events that you have planned, and create a budget. I would highly suggest adding a little more funds to the birthday category. Because, teens will be teens, and can possibly tell you about a birthday list minute.
Community Calendar
If you have a lot of community outings in your town on the town green which our Teen/family orientated, I would suggest writing down all of the upcoming events and strategically setting a spending budget for each event. Seeing how most teens don't know if they're attending the event until the last minute. I would suggest planning around all events. For instance, Our town has a local Derby every year that a lot of the teens hang out at. Communicate with your teen to see which event's they plan on attending.
Birthdays
This would be a great time to ask your child if any of their friends have a birthday coming up. Create a list, which includes the teen's name, and a gift idea and/or budget.
Sample Gift ideasIf your child is around the mall age plan for it, most kids like to eat at the food court and window shop. See if you can arrange for dropoff and pickups with other parents.
