Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms

It's officially summer, the kiddos are out of school, and I know you're probably trying to adjust to your new schedule. As a mom, I'm still learning the importance of self-care time. No matter if it's a couple of minutes or an entire day. It's so easy to forget about self-care, however, as a mom, it's so important. Below, I'm sharing Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms

Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms

Go for a walk
I take daily walk. It just works for me. It's the perfect way to start my morning and clear my thoughts. I'm able to take in the fresh air and the gorgeous scenery. Let's not forget about all of the amazing health benefits of walking.

Spa Day
I'm all for at-home spa days. You can also plan a spa day at your local spa. I haven't found a local spa that I love that's full serve. However, when I do. I'll be sure to tell you guys about it. Also, my at-home spa days consist of my favorite products. You don't have to spend a ton of money and you can focus on one area at a time. It's so important to use what you have and DIYing what you don't if possible.

Read a Book
One of my favorite resources is my local library. They have a ton of books and the ones that they don't have, they can borrow from another library. So if you're worried about investing in yet another book. Try your local library. Maybe you could spend your lunch break reading at work or even while the kiddos are at practice or once they go to sleep.

Journal
Journaling has been so therapeutic to me. I've learned that it works better for me to journal in the morning versus in the evening. By the evening I've noticed that I'm just ready to go to bed. I'm still very old school and I journal with pen and paper. There are also a ton of apps out there though if you prefer to journal electronically. You can also create a gratitude journal as well. There are tons of different journal themes.

Plan a vacation or staycation
If you're new to my blog. I'm all for travel. Solo, family, or even couple travel adventures. I'm also all for planning mommy vacations. This could be a staycation too. It doesn't have to be for a long time. It can be an overnight stay as well. Trust me, you'll feel rejuvenated upon returning back home.

Take a break from technology
Sometimes technology can do more harm than good. Especially if you work out of the home. The sight of a computer could be a little overwhelming. Especially, if you're on a computer all day for work. Take a break from technology. Maybe it's turning off your phone at a certain time of day or not looking at your phone one weekend a month.

Take a break from social media
As much as well all love social media. It's nice to take a break from it every once in a while and be in the moment. Turn off your social media notifications and spend that time doing something that you actually love.

Craft
One of my favorite things to do is a craft. I could spend all day in the craft store an entire weekend working on that craft. It's so therapeutic for me. Maybe it's waking up a little earlier to work on one of your favorite crafts or even carve out some time of your schedule to work on it.

Spend time near water
I love being near the water. It's one of my favorite things to do during the summer months. Even if I do get in the water. It's just nice for me to be around it. Most states have a list of local lakes and beaches. I've learned as a parent that you have to be very creative when it comes to carving out time for yourself. Maybe there's a local lake near the dance class or even during soccer practice. Spend time taking in the scenery.

Wake up earlier
I'm a morning person so waking up earlier just works for me. I've learned that I just get much more stuff done when I'm up before everyone else. It's the perfect time for me to do what I love. Even if it's savoring my warm lime water with honey, a delicious cup of tea, or even a matcha latte.
