With the holiday’s right around the corner, it is truly time to start preparing. Can you believe that in a couple more days it will be November? I will not be hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our home this year. However, I still wanted to share a couple of tips for anyone who may be hosting dinner at their home or bringing. Let’s start this discussion with figuring out if you are going to have dinner at your home or if you have been invited to multiple homes this Thanksgiving.

Budget:

Try to set a budget (i.e. food, decorations, and games), even if you are invited to someones home. Figure out if you are required to bring a dish. Most hosts greatly appreciate the offer for a guest to bring something. (Don’t forget to ask how many guests are expected to attend.)

Time to clean:

Now that you know that you will be having guest over, it’s time to clean the house NOW! Yes nowJ, get all of that dirty work out of the way before the second week of November, and right a list of areas of your home that could be touched up a day or two before Thanksgiving.

What Do I Have Already?

Check your stockpile and cabinets to see what you already have that you could incorporated into your menu instead of going out and purchasing new or different items.

Menu:

Now that you know what you already have. Right now is the perfect opportunity to start planning your menu. I would strongly suggest creating a shopping list, and purchasing the items on your list as well in advance. Trust me, going to the grocery store the two days or one day before Thanksgiving, could leave you with disappointment or stress from having to go to multiple stores.

1 year already??!!! September 15, 2012 was Our Delightful Home Blog Anniversary.

It’s really hard to believe that one year has already passed. I have learned so much over this past year. I had no idea, about half of the stuff I learned until I became a blogger. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to meet so many blogger and companies in person at Blogher’12. I also had the wonderful opportunity to partner with so many great companies. I am truly thankful, and do not take any of the opportunities I have been given for granted.

Yup, you guessed right. I am already thinking about holiday cards. I am the type of person that gets everyone in the holiday spirit. My Christmas Cards are usually the first ones in the mail for my friends, family. The winter holidays are way too short. Plus most people put the cards away after the New Year. For me personally, if I do not get the holiday cards out the last week in November to the first week in December they may not go out at all. Yes, there are some years that I just end up sending cards via email. I usually try to send cards out every year, especially for my friends and family that live in another state. To me it’s something really nice about receiving mail that is not a bill. Especially, opening a special piece of mail, that is sending warm wishes to you and yours.

One of the most reliable places I have been able to order my prints from is Shutterfly. They have an amazing variety of cards. I have the choice of adding one photo to ten, which is great for me. Shutterfly also generously offers a “special offers” page. (How cool this that?)

Happy Friday Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far. Last weekend, I was on the hunt to learn how to make things for my fur baby. I came across this great article on the Martha Stewart site for a D.I Y Canvas Tote Doggie Bag. I had everything on hand, and was able to make this bag in less than an hour with my handy hot glue gun.

I accomplished this look with:

left over fabric
ribbon (left over)
hot glue gun
Iron-on letters
