How to Make Homeless Care Packages: On-The-Go Bags

by - 10/24/2018 12:00:00 AM

Growing up. I was always raised to help those in need and to volunteer my time. Naturally growing up in the inner city, I saw a need in my community and created a nonprofit organization. I’m not sure if I have seen the idea on social Media or Pinterest. However, I love the concept of carrying homeless bags with you in your car for those in need. I love that you can also personalize these bags to fit your needs. I like to include a combination of food, hygiene products, and money/gift cards. I also opt to not have my bags gender specific. Below I’m sharing a list of products that you can include in your homeless bags as well. I'm also sharing a link below to a video that I created and shared on Instagram showing the items that I include in my bags for those in need.

  1. What a great idea! My sister's church makes up bags like this and the members pay a small fee that goes toward mission outreach. My sister keeps a supply of these bags in her trunk to give out to the homeless. It's such a simple and effective way to help.

  2. I knew someone who kept these in her trunk to give out. A few years ago, we did a thing at our church where we took up items and made them into care packages and passed them out during the cold months.

  8. I love this! I got Ipsy for a few years and saved all the make up bags. Now I put in $5, soap, a small comb, a package of cheese and crackers, shampoo, and candy treat. My friends all save the hotel soaps and shampoos for me. I love giving out the cheerful bags.

  11. I definitely prefer giving these to giving money. I understand that there are so many people in need, but I just can't in good conscience give money. I'm all about helping though!

  17. I LOVE this idea. I struggle with giving them money, because there are definitely a lot of scammers, but I also feel really bad because what if they do really need help? The blessing bags are amazing, and I keep thinking I need to make some up. I've seen a few homeless people out with their babies lately and it just completely breaks my heart.
