August Vegetable Garden Update: The Peak
Guys, I'm so happy with my vegetable garden thus far. I wanted to provide you with an August update. I honestly wanted to give up on planting tomatoes. The last couple of years that I've planted tomato plants it was honestly an epic fail. The only tomato plants that I would have success with, was the cherry tomatoes. Which I'm thankful for. However, my heart yearned for more. I knew that I if I could figure things out that my garden would thrive. Though I'm still learning and I still have so much to learn, my heart is so full every time that I'm in my garden.
This year I planted a variety of tomato plants
Big Boy
Cherry Tomato
Early Girl, and a tomato plant in the Roma family
This year a played around with raised bed gardening and container gardening. I've learned the importance of plants needing their space, and also how important it is for them to be secured. I'm still working on pruning. It's amazing how each tomato plant has a different texture. I really never paid attention to this until this year. I also dabbled in hanging tomato plants. I always thought that it was a cool concept. However, does it work? Ummm, yes! It actually does and it's so simple to do. If you follow me on social media. I periodically with give a glance at my vegetable garden. This is also my first year harvesting enough tomatoes to make homemade roasted tomato soup.
This year I also planted a jalapeno pepper plant and I'm starting to see baby pepper plants form. I also planted kale, red peppers basil. The red peppers, kale, and basil are thriving. I really didn't do much of a fall garden. I did plant a pumpkin seed. However, this is my first year really caring for it, so I really do not have much of an update. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses though.
Any garden tips? Do you have a vegetable garden?

My tomatoes are coming to an end as is the rest of the garden. Love the beginning but am always readying to put it to bed and move on for the winter.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking fabulous. I wish I could grow stuff but I have a black thumb so I don't even bother anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me today with your garden photos, hopefully next year, I will start in spring. I have been wanting to have a home garden for so long, to avoid the market grown vegetables. These tomatoes are gorgeous, keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That looks great! my garden didn't fare so well as we had a TON of rain this summer. It was just too much for it and not enough sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a garden like this! I am not so good at growing things lol! Can you come and grow some veggies for me?
ReplyDeleteTomatoes are my favorite thing to grow in the garden. Funny thing is I'm not a big fan of them by themselves, but I do love to mix them with food. Yours look beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI envy gardeners. It's an amazing feeling to bring food right from your backyard. Your tomatoes look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky. My tomatoes this year are all vines! We had drought then constant rain which killed my zucchini and cucumbers. Now my tomatoes are doing nothing. I'm glad yours are doing well.
ReplyDeleteLove your garden!! Looks like it's doing so well. I've never had the best luck with them, though I know it's not about luck... I just need to learn more :)
