Apple Crisp (The Perfect Fall Treat) #Thanksgivingrecipe
I ended up making this recipe with the last of our apples
from the apple orchard. I was surprised how amazing this recipe turned out. Not
to mention how amazing my house smelled while making this recipe.
This is defiantly going on my recipe “favorites” list
Recipe: via
For the Topping:
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
6 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
For the Filling:
2 lbs Granny Smith Apples
3 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp lemon juice
For serving:
Vanilla Ice Cream
Extra caramel sauce (optional)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Start with the topping. Combine the flour, both sugars, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the butter cubes and break them down into the mixture by using the tips of your fingers to rub the butter and dry ingredients together. Stir in the rolled oats, then put the entire bowl into the freezer or refrigerator while you work on the apples.
Peel, core, and cut the apples into small chunks. Toss well with the brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Pour this mixture into an 8x8 baking dish, then sprinkle the crumb topping evenly all over the top. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour, until golden brown and bubbling. Serve with ice cream and extra caramel. Enjoy!
