Apple Cider Recipe

Wondering what I did with the left over apples from our Apple Orchard visit? Here’s one of the recipes I tried. This recipe had our home smelling simply amazing. This was my first time making apple cider and some of the items I had on hand and some I didn't. Therefore, I opted to use the powder version instead.

Anywho, my family loved this recipe. I opted to store the left over cider in mason jars for future use.

Have you tried any new recipes lately?

Items Needed:
1 dozen apples...I used a bag of McIntosh, but any apples/any combo of apples will do
1 orange
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
1 whole nutmeg
1 tbsp whole cloves
1 tsp whole allspice

Instructions:
  1. Chop apples and orange into quarters.
  2. Place fruit and all other ingredients in a stock pot and cover with water, leaving a few inches at the top of the pot.
  3. Bring to a boil and stir for an hour, then simmer for two more hours.
  4. Mash all ingredients with a potato-masher as you go and then strain through a cheesecloth into mason jars or a pitcher.
