Yesterday while looking for a particular item at Walmart. I saw a Turkey Fryer.

At first glance I thought of how I wanted to make a fried turkey for Thanksgiving this year. Mr. D and I have been discussing this since last Thanksgiving. Every year my family and I go the traditional route when I comes to preparing our turkey. Mainly due to scenes like this...

Well this year I am truly motivated! I actually had no idea butterball made deep fryers (okay, I could be really late about this). I usually always see the deep fryer that looks like a larger fish fryer.

I personally have never tried fried turkey. Everyone I know that I have tried it, has bragged about how delicious the turkey taste. We may start off with a smaller turkey seeing how we are most likely not having Thanksgiving at our home this year.

With all that said...

After looking at over 800 cards...We went with choice 4!

Yes! It's that time of year. I am so happy to pick out Christmas Cards for my family. There are so many options to choose from. I usually send a greeting via email. However, this year, I will be sending our holiday cards in the mail! I love receiving holiday cards in the mail. Don’t get me wrong, I have sent plenty of cards via email. However, it is something special to me about opening a holiday card from a friend or family member. Plus in our home, we display and cards that are sent to us.

We are in the process of turning a spare space in our home into a guest bedroom/family area. Allow me to give you a little history about this room. This space is in an odd location in our home. It is the perfect size for a ~~tiny~~ office and I actually used this room as a sewing area and Mr. D used this room as his office/gym area… Now it has to turn into a ~~tiny~~ guest bedroom. I have a couple of ideas in mind. I may actually paint the room, change/spray paint the decor I already have. For some reason I want a room with a color scheme that consists of purple, grey and black room in our house. To me those three colors are gender neutral, and I would love to see how fabulous I can make this ~~tiny~~ space.

I would love to change the light fixture.

A nice bold mirror for this room, would add a nice touch.

A futon would add a multi purpose to this room. I am still trying to decide if I would prefer to have a sleeper sofa.

What I have in mind for this room is "less is more" as prior stated, this room is tiny and I would love to keep it clutter free!

As a child, my mother and great grandmother made sweet potato pie around the holidays. This is one of my favorite desserts ~~that I have mastered~~. Once I learned how to bake, I was on a mission to learn how to make this dessert like my family. After several tries, I had it! This is my go to pie. Especially since I am the only one making this pie in the Spring and Summer time (in my immediate family). My step daughter and I even share the same love for this pie ( I am in the process now of giving her the basics of baking). This is my go to pie when I want something fast and simple. I make this pie so much that I no longer have to measure the ingredients :) and it usually comes out so good that the pie only last a day or so. I'm still on a mission to learn how to make my great grandmother's homemade peach cobbler. But for now, I’m happy with my pie.

Recipe

Ingredients:

4 ounces butter, softened
2 cups cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
2 cups granulated sugar (sweeten to taste)
1 small can (5 ounces, about 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons) evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 prepared pie shells, unbaked

Preparation:

Mix butter, potatoes, sugar and evaporated milk until well blended. Add vanilla, eggs, and cinnamon; mix well. Pour into the prepared pie shells. Bake in a 350° oven for about 1 hour, until set.
Makes 2 pies.

…Halloween is right around the corner. As a child I remember waiting at home until it was dark outside. I remember the joy of going to my neighbor’s home and saying “Trick or Treat” waiting to see what delicious treat I was going to get. It is sad to say the joy of going “Trick or Treating” has gone out the window as a parent. I remember saying to my sister one year “can I just buy some candy for the boys”? I know… don’t get me wrong as previously stated as a child I loved Halloween. The joy of dressing up was just was amazing to me. Usually every year I ~~try to~~ take my son trick or treating. If weather permits, we live in New England and it is usually cold on Halloween.

Which can be a good or bad thing…

Bad due to the fact you can barely see the children’s Halloween custom.

Good because my sons custom does not have to be above and beyond unless we are attending a Halloween party.

Now back to the purpose of this post, with Halloween this year on Monday this…

Over the weekend I decided to go to the craft stores to purchase the items needed for some of my projects. I started off my shopping at Michael's of course I had to do a walk a through to insure I was not missing anything…I came across these lovely items...

At first I stopped, thought about it and kept it moving. All I could think about was my almost two year old nephew getting a hold of one of those glass items ~~and me passing out from him attempting to touch it~~. Well, I did not purchase anything off of this shelf or....

... this shelf. Oh Well, I love the candle holder near the reindeer though and, I will keep my eye out on them. Like most stores, I believe Michaels is the in the middle of adding all of their Christmas items. (I do not believe I saw these items the last time I was at Michael's). Anywho, I picked up a couple of items and kept it moving!
