Things I'm Looking Forward to This Summer

I can't believe how fast summer is approaching. It really feels like yesterday that I was receiving calls from my son's school about snow days. Now the first day of summer is literally within a couple of weeks. Last year I did a post sharing "8 Things that I Look Forward to In Summer". This year I'm sharing a post highlighting what I'm looking forward to this summer

Things I'm Looking Forward to This Summer

Festivals
Each year like many other states. My hometown hosts an annual jazz festival. This year I'm hoping to attend for the first time. It pretty much has been out of sight and minds these last several years. However, I would like to make a point to try and attend this year.

Lite Bites

One of the things I love most about summer is the light meals and how they're pretty much grab and go options. No heavy foods. Just yummy drool-worthy treats and lite bites.

Day Trips
What I love most about living in Connecticut. It living so close to so many amazing neighboring states. To visit New York or Rhode Island, or Boston on a whim is a norm. So much to see and do in those states. It's so nice to visit them, especially during the summer months.

No School
Though I love the structure of the school year. It's nice to not have to drop anyone off from missing the school bus.

Fruits & Veggies
I live for enjoying summer fruits and veggies. Though I wish I could enjoy variations of the freshness all year long like some countries. It's nice to indulge in some of my favorite fruits and veggies with watermelon being one. If you remember, When I started my weight loss journey. I found a new love for watermelon. I pretty much always have it on my grocery list during the summer months.

Longer Days
I know I've mentioned this a lot. However, you have to know idea how much I really appreciate the longer days that summer provides. Though the days are the same length. It feels as if they're more hours in a day when it's summer.

Gardening
Gardening is therapeutic to me, and it's something that I look forward to doing every year. Last year my garden really did amazing. It would be nice to really nice to expand my garden this year and incorporate more fruits and veggies.

What are you looking forward to this summer?

  5. I am hoping to get a return on my work in the garden this year. The weather has not been very good here lately and I worry that everything will flood out, hopefully it will dry up soon and I will get a good harvest.

  7. My son just came home from college and it is so awesome to have him back, even if it just for the summer. While I don't like extreme heat, I do like sleeping with the windows open, so I'm looking forward to that. I hope to get better about eating more fruits and veggies.

  11. We are festival nerds here but we are seeing many of them cancelled due to flooding in my part of the country (midwest) which is surely going to have a negative impact on businesses in these small towns.
