How to Properly Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Whether you're using my DIY makeup brush cleaner or you're using your favorite store brought one. It's so important to know how to properly clean your makeup brushes. Dermatologist recommends that you clean your makeup brushes at least every 7-10 days.

This even goes if you're not using them daily, and they're just sitting around collecting dust. It's so important to clean them, one rule of thumb to know if it's time for you to clean them is when you're applying your makeup to your skin, and your brushes feel rough against your skin. This is a clear indicator that your brush needs to be cleaned.

Trust me, dirty, and clean makeup brushes have a huge difference in how they feel.

I like to have a cleaning routine. If you have a busy schedule, you can add when your last cleaned your makeup brushes on your phone or in your calendar. You can also place weekly reminders on your phone. Which makes it a little more convenient.

How to Properly Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Instructions
  1. Place your makeup cleanser near your sink of choice.
  2. Grab a few or one large makeup brush.
  3. Wet the makeup brush.
  4. Dab the tip of the makeup brush in the brush cleaner.
  5. Use a circler motion, and or back, and forth motion with the palm of your hand.
  6. Rinse each brush until there are no more bubbles or soap in the bristles.
  7. Gently squeeze excess water out of the brush and lay at an angle on clean paper towels or a clean hand towel.
