Conference Tips | Finding a Conference Roommate + Helpful Tips You Need To Know
I recently attended the Alt Conference and Social Media Marketing World. With both conferences I had roommates. Depending on the variables of the conference I do try to secure a roommate in advance. Below, I'm sharing a few tips to make the process of finding a roommate little easier + some helpful tips of stuff you need to know.
Do your Diligence
Do a little research prior to committing to being someone's roommate. Search their social media profiles. Try to see if they would be a good fit for you.
Finding A Roommate
Most condenses will have Facebook pages and apps running for attendees. In a lot of cases, they may have areas where you can post your search for a roommate.
Payment
Have the conversation early about when the payment is due. Most hotels will allow you to split the bill down the middle. However, in most cases, you do have to check out at the same time.
Check-in
Life happens! Check in with your roommate to ensure that he/she still do plan on attending. Some people may feel that since hotels allow you to cancel typically within 48 hours. That they have that same option.
Have you ever had a roommate for a conference you’ve attended?

ReplyDeleteI always like to have a buddy along side me at conferences. A roommate is a wonderful way to cut costs and make new friends.
ReplyDeleteI would hopefully go with a friend so all the wondering if they are going show and pay their half happens.
ReplyDeleteI'd need to go with a friend for sure. I am an introvert so going to a conference would be WAY out of my comfort zone. So I'd need that support.
ReplyDeleteThese are definitely a lot of great tips. When I go to a conference sometimes I look for a roommate but I'm a little wary of that. It is a good way to save money though.
ReplyDeleteI'm of the age where I don't want or need a roomie. I like to do my own thing far too much! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas! I have not attended a conference before but really want to go to one. I think it would be amazing to get to meet other bloggers in my niche, talk about things, compare and bond over similar experiences and interests.
ReplyDeleteI haven't attended a conference in ages. I think I'd get my own room if I did have to attend one unless I really knew the person well.
ReplyDeleteI have attended some conferences before with room mates but I never had a chance to choose. I love this idea of choosing room mates, thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteI have gone to a few conferences with my sister. Having a roommate is a great way to save some money and hopefully have a friendly face in the crowd.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a blog conference yet, but I'll have to keep these tips in mind in the future. Thank you for sharing them!

ReplyDeleteMy snoring has gotten louder over the years, I tend to skip a roomie nowadays. Though it is so much fun to have roommates. Great tips!

ReplyDeleteI personally tend to room alone or with my blogging business partner. I do love all of your tips though! Blogging conferences are worth the investment for sure!
