3 Tips To Make Your Curls Last Longer

Whether I'm wearing a protective style or my natural hair. One of the most frustrating aspects of keeping my hair done and feeling as soft as it looks while maintaining bouncy curls. I remember meeting a friend for lunch her only touch my hair to say how amazing it looked for only a crunch sound to come from my hair. I was so embarrassed, we joked about it. However, I know how it feels to want to maintain a look and want for it to feel as soft as it actually looks. Today I'm sharing three tips to keep your curls lasting without having to worry about the crunch and using a ton of products.

Satin Bonnet

Yes, I love bonnets. I wear one every night to sleep and I also wear them under my protective styles if the hairstyle allows for it. I noticed that when I use a satin bonnet whether it be with my natural hair or a protective style my hair last for a lot longer versus sleeping on my hair. You can easily purchase a bonnet at Walmart or your local beauty supply store for under $3.

Satin Pillow Case

For those who are not a fan of satin bonnets. I highly recommend investing in a good quality satin pillowcase. I remember when satin pillowcases first became the rave. They were really pricey. Now you can easily find them at your local Beauty supply store or even Dollar Tree. One of the benefits of satin bonnets and pillowcases is that it doesn't absorb the moisture in your hair. Which is wonderful because that means that it's keeping the moisture on your hair while keeping it skinny. It's also great for your skin as well. So it defiantly has multiple benefits. One of my favorite benefits of a satin pillowcase is that it allows your hair to last longer. Your hair is actually gliding instead of getting tangled.

Hairspray

Not all hairsprays are created equal, some traditional hairsprays are formulated with clunky particles that sit on top of the hair which results in product build-up. Not the case with TRESemme Compressed Micro-Mist Hair Spray, from the size of the bottle to the quality of the product. The smaller 5.5 can is super easy to hold and it contains the same number of sprays as an 11oz can. I love that this new collection has four different hold levels for your ideal hairstyle. My favorite hold level is actually number one Texture. It does such an amazing job of keeping my curls super soft and allowing them to last for a really long time. I love that The breakthrough TRESemme Compressed Micro-Mist Hair Spray allows my hair to feel as soft as it looks and allows me to go from day to night effortlessly. The TRESemm Compressed Micro-Mist Hair Spray is easily accessible as well. I found it at my local Walmart in this super cute display showcasing all of the hold levels.

  1. I'm all about getting my curls to last as long as possible. So I definitely do satin the bonnet and pillowcase. I've never really thought about using hairspray though. I used to LOVE TRESemme's "Naturals" line. I hated that they discontinued it. But you seem to have gotten good results with the hairspray, so I'm definitely thinking about giving it a try.

  2. I've got straight hair, with an undertone of wavy, but this will be a welcome treat for all my curly haired friends and cousins. Good to know about the micro mist hair spray! <3

  3. I do not sleep with a bonnet and only use a silk pillowcase when I flatiron my hair. I do however use gel or mousse for my curls. I will look into this spray as a possible curl keeper.

  4. I have a hard time getting my curls to stay and the hair spray just makes my hair all stiff. I love their shampoos and would try the spray and see if it holds up.
