One of the things I love most about being a blogger is my ability to connect with so many amazing people, brands, and of course the blogger conference/summits. Below, I'm sharing my must-haves. Whether you're a newbie blogger or a veteran. Below, I'm sharing Things You Need to Bring to a Blogger Conference.

Things You Need to Bring to a Blogger Conference

Reusable Bag
Not all conferences provide swag bags upfront or even at all. I always like to carry with me a reusable bag that can be added to my keychain or pocketbook. (like this one)

Power Bank
Say it with me "Bring a power bank" between tweeting, Instagram, Facebook and/or Snapchat. Don't leave home without a power bank. I made the mistake this year forgetting my power bank in my suitcase at the hotel. Well, guess what. Within an hour or so, my phone was about to die and I had to use someone's power bank. Not every conference will have charging stations. Some won't even have power strips at the tables. Come prepared and invest in a great power bank. Upon arriving back home from Blogger bash I immediately invested in a high-quality power bank. Trust me, you’ll be asking yourself “why didn’t I buy this sooner".

Breath mints
During this event, you're doing lots of talking and connecting with others. Make sure to bring your favorite breath refresher with you.

Business Card
This is a no-brainer. However, you’re human and will forget stuff. If you plan on attending a blogger conference. Make sure that your business cards are up to date with your current information and also make sure that you don’t forget to pack them. In the event that you run out or are about to run out allow people requesting a business card to take pictures of yours and I highly suggest getting the contact information of the brand if you run out of business cards.

Water/Snacks
I always suggest having snacks on hand. When I arrived back from Blogher’17 and Blogger Bash I was exhausted. I made sure that I stayed hydrated and had plenty of snacks with me. You’re not going to like all of the food offered at the blogger conference. Plus, you really don’t want your stomach growling while speaking with a brand rep. Carry a water bottle and a small snack to assist you with getting through the day.

Paper/Pen
This might sound really simple. However, in the event that your phone dies, or you lose it and/or it starts to malfunction. Have a good ole trusty pen and paper with you. Nothing sucks more than needing to write a quick mental note or someone’s contact information. You can decide what your preferred size is. From a legal-size notebook to a pocket notebook. Carry one with you for those just in case moments. You may prefer to handwrite everything. Do what works for you and bring enough for the conference.

Do you have any must-have tips for a blogger conference?

I can't believe the Sweet Suite was last week! It's amazing how time really flies by. This is one of my favorite blogger events to attend. I attended the last Blogher'17 in Orlando I learned about the Sweet Suite from a fellow blogger. I remember learning about the conference. However, I didn't know anyone who attended it. I was so excited to apply, and I was ecstatic when I got approved to attend my first Blogger Bash. I loved that it was just a few hours from my home. So I didn't have to worry about taking a flight. It was bittersweet when it turned into a one-day event. I loved that I didn't have to worry about booking a hotel, and I could be back to my family that same night if need be. This year the Sweet Suite celebrated their 10 year anniversary, and every minute of this event was amazing. If you follow me on Instagram you were able to check out behind the scenes. Below, I'm sharing a few pictures from the event.

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are of my own.

Around this time almost three years ago. I was online and reading a blog post and I noticed an image on the right toolbar promoting an event. This was the first time that I ever heard about this event, and I was intrigued to learn more. I did a quick google search and learned that the Summit was taking place that fall in Chicago. I read a little more about the event, and I was on a mission to attend it that year. I only had a few months to plan, and I didn't know anyone who had attended the event in the past and who was attending the event that year. I didn't allow that to stop me though. Attending The Moms Meet WOW Summit is one of the best decisions I could have made as a blogger/influencer and mom. I met so many amazing moms and connected with so many amazing brands that I still use to date. I didn't know anyone and everyone welcomed me with opened arms. It was truly one of the best blogger experiences EVER! Below, I'm sharing a full breakdown of the event. I can't wait to see you there!

One of the things I love most to do is Personal Development. Prior to even becoming a Blogger. I used to attend every workshop my supervisor would approve. This gave me the opportunity to not only improve on my craft. It also gave me the opportunity to connect with others in the same field as me. When I started blogging back in September of 2011. I didn't even realize that there was an entire community within the blogging world. I was amazed at how much I would learn from other bloggers on a daily basis. When I started to learn of the blogger conferences, my goal was to attend as many as possible the following year. I attended BlogHer back in 2012, and I was hooked! I've noticed that a lot of people are a little perplexed about how to budget and save for a conference, and the expenses they should consider. Below I'm sharing How I Budget & Save for Conferences, I've also included a video. Of course, I use these same principles no matter which conference I'm attending.

Associated Cost
  • Know the entire cost of the conference. Do you have to pay for any of the items listed below?
  • Conference Ticket
  • Lodging (hotel/Airbnb)
  • Travel (Flight, uber/Lyft, rental car, gas)
  • Food (breakfast lunch, dinner, airport)
Example
  • Ticket $500
  • Lodging $800
  • Travel $400
  • Food $200
Total = $1900
  • Most conferences work with hotels to have a special rate for the event. Depending on the conference size the room can possibly book up fast. Most conferences provide this information on their website.
  • Not all conferences are alike. Know what food is being provided. Are they providing lunch or coffee/tea throughout the event? Is food provided on the first and last day?
  • It also very important to consider travel, will you be taking a flight, is the event within driving distance? Do you need to rent a car? How much gas will you need?
Save
Most conferences are held on an annual basis and most conference dates have already been posted for the following year that conference has already passed. If you have a full year to save for your conference. On a spreadsheet or piece of paper. Calculate the total cost above and divide it by 12. If you're using the example above, that would be $1900/ 12 = $160 monthly estimated saving cost.

Now Save
It's really that simple. On a weekly basis, you can save $40 a week or $80 bi-weekly or the $160 monthly. Above is just a rough estimate of expenses. However, I highly suggest creating a savings account now that designated solely for professional development or conferences. It makes it a lot easier to plan for a conference when you have the money on hand and saved.

Tips:
  • Most conferences give huge discounts for the following year conference ticket if you purchase it within the first couple of days of it going unofficially on sale.
  • You can save big on hotels if you have a roommate or decide to go the Airbnb route.
  • Unforateltnelty, Due to unforeseen circumstances, some people have to sell their ticket. Let your friends know that you're interested in buying a ticket (this is in the event that the conference is sold out)

I attended Blogher19 Food for the first time, and I was uber excited. You see, I never attended a niche specific blogger conference. I’m not sure when the first BlogHer Food originated. However, this has always been a conference that was on my “wish list”  I was also really excited that the event was held in New York and I was able to attend. I commuted to New York around 5:30pm. I reached New York, parked my car, and commuted and walked to the event location.

Location
BlogHer Food was held at the Berg’n in Brooklyn. This event offered indoor and outdoor spaces which I loved.

Food
Food was provided throughout the event. Dunkin Donuts hosted breakfast and coffee and tea throughout the event. For this being a blogger food, snacks, and beverages were plentiful throughout the day. With a networking party with appetizers and cocktails concluding the event.

Speakers
This was my first time attending a BlogHer event with this setup and layout. Throughout the event, we heard from a powerhouse of speakers and panelist with a FAQ at the end of each panel.

Overall
BlogHer’19 Food was a great experience. I connected with so many amazing people. The information I learned was invaluable. I love the setup. It was nice to have everything in one room.
