Happy October 1st, friends! Can you believe spooky season is officially here? I'm kicking off the month with what might be the easiest, cutest Halloween treat I've ever made – and trust me, if you need a last-minute idea for a party or just want to surprise your kiddos on a random Tuesday afternoon, this is IT.
The Inspiration

You know those moments when you want to do something festive but don't have the time (or energy) for an elaborate Pinterest project? That's exactly how these ghost cups were born. I was staring at my pantry, spotted some marshmallow fluff, and suddenly had a lightbulb moment. Twenty minutes later, my kitchen counter was filled with the most adorable little ghosts, and my kids were absolutely losing their minds with excitement.

What You'll Need

The beauty of this project is that you probably already have everything on hand:
  • Clear plastic cups (any size works!)
  • Marshmallow fluff
  • Black permanent marker (Sharpie works great)
  • Apple cider (or any drink of your choice)
  • Ice cubes
That's it. Four ingredients. No baking, no complicated techniques, no special tools required.
How to Make Your Ghost Cups

Step 1: Create Your Ghosts Generously dollop marshmallow fluff on top of each clear cup. Don't be shy here – you want enough fluff to create that classic ghost shape flowing down the sides. I like to use about 2-3 tablespoons per cup, but honestly, there's no wrong amount. The fluff will naturally drape over the edges in the most perfectly ghostly way.

Step 2: Draw the Faces Here's where the magic happens! Use your black marker to draw eyes and a mouth directly on the outside of the cup, right through where you can see the fluff. Classic round eyes and an "O" shaped mouth give you that surprised ghost look, but feel free to get creative. We made some with silly faces, some with spooky faces, and one with a mustache (my son's idea – don't ask).

Step 3: Fill and Serve Add ice to the cup, then pour in your apple cider. Watch as your ghost comes to life! The cold cider makes this especially refreshing, and there's something so fun about drinking from a cup with a little ghost friend perched on top.
Why I'm Obsessed With This Idea

Let me count the ways:

It's ridiculously fast. I made a dozen of these in less than 30 minutes, including the time I spent taking photos and stopping my kids from eating all the fluff straight from the jar.

Kids can help. Even my youngest could draw the ghost faces (with supervision, of course – permanent markers and toddlers are a bold combination). It's the perfect activity to keep little hands busy while you prep for a party.

Adults love them too. Don't let the simplicity fool you. I brought these to my friend's Halloween party last weekend, and the grown-ups were just as charmed as the kids. Pro tip: You can absolutely spike the cider for an adult version. A splash of bourbon or spiced rum makes these ghost cups very grown-up indeed.

Zero stress factor. There's no way to mess this up. Crooked ghost face? That just makes it cuter. Fluff sliding off to one side? Even better. These are wonderfully forgiving.
Serving Suggestions

While I'm absolutely obsessed with the apple cider version, these ghost cups are incredibly versatile:
  • Fill with hot chocolate for a cozy autumn treat
  • Use orange soda for a bright, festive look
  • Try lemonade for early October when it's still warm
  • Go with grape juice for a purple potion effect
  • Make them with milk for the kiddos
The Perfect Last-Minute Solution

Here's the thing about Halloween – it's a whole month of opportunities to celebrate. You don't need to wait for the 31st to break out the spooky fun.
These ghost cups are perfect for:
  • After-school surprises
  • Classroom parties (check your school's policy on outside treats first!)
  • Weekend playdates
  • Adults-only Halloween cocktail parties
  • Movie night marathons of your favorite scary films
  • Literally any time you want to see people smile
Make It Your Own

Once you've mastered the basic ghost cup, the possibilities are endless. Some ideas I'm planning to try:
  • Add a drop of food coloring to the fluff for tinted ghosts
  • Use chocolate markers for brown ghost faces
  • Layer different colored drinks for an ombre effect
  • Top with sprinkles before adding the fluff for extra pizzazz
  • Make mini versions in shot glasses for a party appetizer table
In a world where we're all busy and over scheduled, I love finding little ways to make ordinary moments special. These ghost cups take almost no effort but deliver maximum joy – and isn't that what the best traditions are all about?

So grab those clear cups, break out the fluff, and get ready to create some boo-tiful memories this October. Your inner child (and your actual children) will thank you.

Happy haunting, friends! 👻

Have you made these ghost cups? I'd love to see your creations! What other last-minute Halloween treats do you love? Share your ideas in the comments below!

Happy November! I can't remember the last time I did a DIY costume. However, I was so inspired by the Addams Family costumes on social media, that I decided to create my very own modern-day Morticia. This costume was so much fun to put together, I really wish I would have captured this look in some of how poses and attempt to recreate them... It has been so much fun to see all of the costumes on social media and of course the throwback photos that were also shared, you guys are so creative...

How was your weekend?

Happy Halloween! As a kid- Halloween was one of my favorite holidays. I was able to dress as my favorite characters, and simply live in the moment. Now, that I have my own family, with everything going on, I wanted to share a few safety tips, whether you're going trick or treating and/or simply spending time with family.

Halloween Safety Tips

Tips
  • Carry disinfectant wipes and/or hand sanitizer with you.
  • Have your children wash their hands as soon as they re-enter the home.
  • Look both ways, I know this sounds simple, but it's not as simple as it sounds.
  • Create rules prior to leaving your home
  • Even if you have the right away. Look both ways.
  • Have a buddy system when with small children.
  • Carpool
  • Prior to leaving ensure that each child can see out of their customs. (if applicable)
  • Have the children hold hands.
  • Do a headcount prior to proceeding on to the next home.
  • Don't allow your children to eat the candy prior to it being inspected.
  • Keep an emergency kit in the car and/or on you with the essentials
Tween/Teen Safety
  • Do not eat the candy prior to your parents inspecting it.
  • Trick or Treat in groups
  • Look both ways while riding your bike or walking
  • Let your parents know where your at, at all times
  • Make sure your cell phone is fully charged
  • Walk on the sidewalks (if applicable)
  • Don't walk and text (be alert at all times of the area)

Car Safety tips
  • Don't talk/text and drive (put the phone down at all times)
  • Park your car and walk. I know you want the convenience of just being able to jump in your car when it's time to go. However, traffic on a popular street can be really hectic
  • Reverse in the parking space (if applicable)
  • If you're attending a party or even trick or treating at the mall. It's so much easier to try and reverse and park versus trying to back out of a parking space.
  • Ask for help when leaving out a parking space or busy area. While trying to leave out of a parking space have someone an adult get out of the car to assist you. You will be amazed at how many children and adults will walk in front and behind a car while it's in motion.

Hello Friends:
(Small rant) I want to start off by saying this recipe did not want to allow me to be great. Let me start off by saying that this recipe was weeks in the making. In my latest Dollar Tree haul. I mentioned how I purchased candy corns for a recipe I was going to do. Well, let's just say it took a little longer than expected. I first went on the hunt for fresh tangerines. My local store did not have any so I purchased canned mandarin oranges. I see that I'm really starting to be a perfectionist, sorta kind of. I had a vision in mind. I had no issue finding the candy corns, I settled for the canned mandarin oranges and now I was on the hunt for clear glasses. I had no idea how hard it would be to find clear cups. I had in mind little small dessert cups. Typically, I could find a set at my local Homegoods. I went to several stores and only found regular glasses. I went to my local Dollar Tree to see if I could find the stemless wine glasses (I think that's what they're called.) They were out of stock. I was willing to settle for the clear plastic tumbler cups. I really wanted some without the rim my local Walmart didn't sell them. On a whim, I stopped at my local thrift store and found a super cute tasting set. Bingo! Just what I was looking for. If I were serving these to friends and family I wouldn't put them in a large glass. I wanted to present them how I would serve them. That's just me... One more thing. The cups do not have the candy corn topping because I found them after recording the tutorial. sigh.
Thank you for reading my rant . I just want you guys to know that I really do appreciate you stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 can Mandarin oranges, or fresh oranges (optional: cut into smaller chunks for smaller children)
  • 1 can Pineapple or fresh pineapple, (optional: cut into smaller chunks for smaller children)
  • 1 can Mandarin oranges, or fresh oranges (optional: cut into smaller chunks for smaller children)
  • Orange sprinkles and/or candy corn
  • Whipped cream or cool whip

Instructions

  1. In a clear cup, layer the pineapple, then oranges and top with whipped cream and sprinkles (and/or add candy corn). Serve immediately
  2. Tip: Refrigerate the fruit and add the whipped topping once you're ready to serve.
PS: I have a short tutorial of me making them.

…Halloween is right around the corner. As a child I remember waiting at home until it was dark outside. I remember the joy of going to my neighbor’s home and saying “Trick or Treat” waiting to see what delicious treat I was going to get. It is sad to say the joy of going “Trick or Treating” has gone out the window as a parent. I remember saying to my sister one year “can I just buy some candy for the boys”? I know… don’t get me wrong as previously stated as a child I loved Halloween. The joy of dressing up was just was amazing to me. Usually every year I try to take my son trick or treating. If weather permits, we live in New England and it is usually cold on Halloween.
Which can be a good or bad thing…
Bad due to the fact you can barely see the children’s Halloween custom.
Good because my sons custom does not have to be above and beyond unless we are attending a Halloween party.
Now back to the purpose of this post, with Halloween this year on Monday this…

Will your family celebrate Halloween over the weekend or on Monday?
