Simply Tasheena

I think I attended my first Black Friday event when I was about 17, my aunt was super excited about attending and had been attending the event of this sale for years. It sounded like so much fun, wake up early a day after Thanksgiving, and shop until you were pretty much tired?! Count me in, over the years, after Thanksgiving dinner it was a tradition that my aunt would pick up a newspaper, and after dinner, we would go through the sales fliers and create a plan. It was so much fun, and I created so many Black Friday memories throughout the years. Below, I'm sharing my Must-Know Tips for Shopping Black Friday.

Must-Know Tips for Shopping on Black Friday

Shop Now
As weird as this may sound if you prefer shopping online, shop now. Most stores offer amazing deals prior to Black Friday, and the cashback offer is typically more before the holidays.
Know When the sales start
It’s important to know when the sale actually starts. I think so many people have the misconception that most sales start on Thanksgiving, and Black Friday. However, I’ve learned that all stores are different some stores have sales that start on Wednesday online, and I’ve even gone to stores at the outlet that opened at around 12 am, and whose doors didn’t open until 6 am on Black Friday. Search the website for the stores in which you plan on visiting to make sure that you have the correct information on hand. Also, note I've already started receiving mailers with Black Friday sales going on now.

Shopping List
Know who you’re shopping for and what stores you would like to shop for that person. It’s so easy to see all of the sales and add everything into your cart. Creating a shopping list makes it so much easier to have a strategic plan.

Emails
Signup for their emails beforehand for your favorite stores. You'll be the first to know about sales and Earlybird opportunities.

Budget
I’m all for budgets, it’s so easy to overspend on Black Friday on items that you don’t even need or want. Create a budget for each person on your shopping list. If you’re purchasing items for yourself or Home. Create a budget for the store in which you plan on shopping.

Price Matching Policy
A lot of stores do not price match on Black Friday. No there policy beforehand to save you time and money.

Stores
There are a ton of stores that have Black Friday sales, which stores do you plan on visiting online, and in-person? I’ve found it so helpful to create a list of the stores which I plan on visiting in person, and virtually, and what item I want from each store.

Back-Up Plan
The possibilities are endless but have a backup plan. If you're at a store and the item you're looking for is out of stock. What is your plan "B"? Know beforehand what stores are going to have what.

Shop with a Friend
If you have a friend/family member that wants to go with you. Let them, the more the merrier. Help each other out. Split up and go to different stores. Have a plan!

As the saying goes, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. “ Of course nothing is glowing to be perfect. Stores will sell out of items, some stores might not even have the item in stock in which you’re looking for. I highly suggest purchasing the items that are on sale for the same price online. That you purchase the item online to avoid having to search around the stores looking for it.

I love black Friday and look forward to snagging the amazing deals that come with it each year. I still remember my first black Friday shopping experience over 16 years ago at Walmart. The lines were crazy, and it was such a huge crowd. From that day forward it was our tradition to look at the sales ads and to see which stores we were going to check out. Through trial and error, I've learned some very important lessons shopping on Black Friday. Below, I'm sharing some of my favorite black Friday tips.

Up until a couple of years ago. I would complete all of my Black Friday shopping in-store. I remember my first Black Friday experience as if it was yesterday. My aunt would go Black Friday shopping every year. She extended the offer to my sister and me. This took place back in 2004. I remember not getting any sleep, due to being super excited and leaving out of the house around 3 or 4 am. This was back prior to stores opening on Thanksgiving Day, and offering sales online as well. Fast forward to now. I do most of my Black Friday shopping for the comfort of my bed. This has come from trial and error, and I've learned something new each year. To improve my shopping experience. Below I'm sharing my four favorite tips to save money on Black Friday sales online.

Emails
I always try to stress the importance of signing up for your favorite store Newsletter. A lot of times stores will send exclusive offers and VIP access to email subscribers. This is perfect, especially around Black Friday. I received a ton of emails last year for early bird access.

Sale Starts
Many stores sale starts online before the actual in-store sale. It’s so important to actually know when the sale starts with the store you plan on shopping at. Create a list of all of the stores you plan on shopping at and do some research on when the sale starts online.

Reminders
Since each sale starts at different times/days. Create a reminder on your phone to make sure you don’t miss out on the sale, also this ensures that the items in which you're looking for don't sell out.

Price Comparison
So many stores are offering great sales. However, not all sale prices are the same. It’s so important to really sit down and price compare. Find out which items you, want, and which price compares with several stores. Make sure it's the same exact item. To ensure that you're actually getting the best deal. For instance, if you're looking to purchase an Apple watch, you find the same exact watch at Target and Best Buy for the same exact price. (so you think) However, the watch at Target is a little more expensive, has more "GB" you're also going to get a $50 discount, and 5% off for using your red card. You have to really break down "what's a good price".

Coupon Codes
If you’re signed up for your favorite store's email and mailing list. You should be receiving coupon code offers. If you haven’t received these offers yet. No worries. Some stores will send the codes the same day as the sale. You can always do a quick google search to see if you come across any valid coupon codes. I've saved a ton by just doing a quick Google search and signing up for my favorite store email list.

Yes! It’s that time of year again. I remember when Black Friday started early in the morning the day after Thanksgiving. I remember my first time going Black Friday shopping with my Aunt. I remember being on the phone with a friend and telling them how excited I was to go Black Friday shopping. I think that’s the moment that I realized I was an influencer. (lol, J/k) At that very moment, I made the hype about going. That person was excited to go as well... We went to the notorious Walmart and the lines were crazy. I mean the lines were wrapped around the building. I was excited and nervous at the same time. The store wasn’t open and living in Connecticut it was cold outside. More like freezing to me. I believe it was 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning and I had no strategy in mind. Just the experience. I remember when the store opened. Of course, everyone rushed to get in. I was just in all. I probably purchased a few items. (I honestly can’t remember what I purchased)
When I host Thanksgiving at my home. After dinner, it’s open season on the store ads, LOL. Lots of markings all over the store fliers. It’s nice to sit around with family and look for deals. A lot has changed with stores opening Thanksgiving Day. I typically visit Target and the Outlets on the notorious Black Friday.
This year I'm not sure what we're going to do. As many of you probably know, I'm trying to incorporate minimalism in my life slowly but surely. However, I do love a good sale (insert wink)

15 Days left until Black Friday!

Usually every year, I'll cook Thanksgiving dinner (the entire meal). After the second or third plate. After dinner we sit in the living at our home and go all in look through each ad thoroughly. Well, this year is going to be a little different. We will not be having Thanksgiving dinner at our home and most likely I will traveling around with the newspaper in my car, calling my family asking them "Did you see the deal in **** ad?"  I really would like to know what the deals are going to be this year, so I could plain accordingly... To my surprise Wal-mart sent me an email yesterday stating a sneak peak of the Black Friday ad would be available starting today... One of the first things I did this morning was look through the ad and to my surprise my the Kitchen Aid mixer was not on sale...

Are you going Black Friday shopping this year?
